Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is announcing more aid for Ukraine.

According to the Department of Defense, Austin plans to send an additional $2.3 billion to help the Eastern European country in its struggle against Russia. According to Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder’s press release, the package will include “a significant number of urgently needed air defense interceptors…as well as artillery and anti-tank weapons.”

The agreement was a result of Austin’s meeting with the Ukrainian defense minister at the Pentagon yesterday. The two have pledged to remain in close contact with each other.

This comes just weeks after the US and Ukraine signed a pact committing America to 10 years of Ukrainian defense training, aid supplies and intelligence sharing. It also comes one week ahead of a NATO summit in Washington, D.C.
