Democrat running mate Tim Walz tried to cozy up to one of the nation’s biggest unions yesterday in his first solo campaign speech. Speaking before members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Walz positioned himself and Kamala Harris as friendly to union workers and the middle class.
But Walz also took a moment to respond to his Republican competitor J.D. Vance – who had criticized him for his military service and suggested that it was insincere. Vance made comments about Walz’s service during a CNN interview earlier this month.
Walz responded saying he was “proud” of his service and tried flipping the script on Vance.
