It was a big night for Democrats in key state elections last night.
In Virginia, Democrats won full control of the state’s General Assembly and kept control of the Senate. That is sure to be a major setback for Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin, who is limited to a single term.
Further west, voters in the solidly red state of Kentucky re-elected Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear, who beat out Republican challenger and State Attorney General Daniel Cameron.
The only major Republican win came out of Mississippi, where Gov. Tate Reeves won reelection against Democrat challenger Brandon Presley. Reeves touted Donald Trump’s endorsement as a major factor in his victory.
But other conservative victories were few and far between, especially when it came to the issue of abortion. In a major loss for the pro-life movement, Ohio voters passed a constitutional amendment that allows abortion until around the 24th week of pregnancy.
Meanwhile, Pennsylvania elected pro-abortion judge Daniel McCaffery to fill the state’s vacant supreme court seat, which increased the Democrat majority on the court to 5-2.
