Disney World promotes ‘Gay Days’ in continuing fight with DeSantis

Thousands of pro-LGBT visitors flooded Disney World on Saturday for the start of what’s known as “Gay Days” – many wearing shirts attacking Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

“Gay Days” is not officially sponsored by Disney, but is a tradition going back to the early 1990s. Every year, LGBT supporters put on red shirts and flock to various theme parks, including Disney, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld.

This year, attendees wore shirts with slogans like “Say Gay” or “Don’t say DeSantis” in reference to DeSantis’ law barring LGBT curriculum in schools.

Disney spoke out against the law, sparking an ongoing feud with the governor which resulted in the theme park losing its special district status. The company has since sued DeSantis over the move, saying he punished the company over its exercise of free speech.
