England’s NHS to stop prescribing puberty blockers for minors

by ian

England’s National Health Service yesterday announced it will no longer prescribe puberty blockers for minors, saying there was “not enough evidence.” Former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss celebrated the decision.

This comes as the Gender Identity Development Services saw an increase in patient referrals from 250 per year to over 5,000 in 2022.

The new policy will not allow puberty blockers to be “routinely” prescribed, and any children attending these government clinics will instead be supported by experts in neurodiversity, pediatrics, and mental health – resulting in a “holistic approach.” But Truss is hoping to push this decision further, from the government level to private clinics as well.
