Evangelical leaders urge congressional support for Israel

Christians continue to rally their support behind Israel, with the latest coming from a group of prominent evangelical leaders who wrote a letter to Congress yesterday.

The group urges lawmakers to stand with Israel in the face of the Oct. 7 terror attacks, which they called the “most significant massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust.”

Signatories included Ralph E. Reed of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, James Dobson of the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute and Gordon Robertson of The Christian Broadcasting Network.

The letter calls on Congress to fund Israel’s defense, pass laws targeting antisemitism in the U.S. and maintain sanctions on Iran. It says:

With this letter, we issue a united condemnation of antisemitism and proclaim our support for Israel’s right to self-defense. The United States government, and the people’s representatives in Congress, cannot waver both in combatting antisemitism and in supporting the State of Israel.
