The Justice Department released a report yesterday on the 2022 shooting in Uvalde, Texas , and concluded that “cascading failures” in the police response contributed to the deaths of 19 children and two adults at Robb Elementary School.
Attorney General Merrick Garland says officers waited too long to confront the gunman and acted with “no urgency” to establish a command post.
The report also identified failures in leadership, concluding that no one took charge at the scene. Garland said the victims and their families “deserved better” from the police.
