Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.), who had checked himself in to a hospital for treatment of clinical depression, will reportedly be returning to work soon.

Politico cited two people with knowledge of the matter who said that Fetterman plans to be back to work sometime during the week of April 17.

Fetterman had checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in mid-February. The attending physician for Congress recommended inpatient care after a checkup.

The Pennsylvania senator had previously suffered a stroke while campaigning before the November 2022 midterm elections. Because of his stroke, Fetterman has relied on transcription technologies to help him communicate.

Fetterman is not the only senator to have missed work in the past couple of months.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) only recently returned to the chamber after being treated for a concussion. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) was also in the hospital after being diagnosed with shingles over the February recess.

With Fetterman’s return, Senate Democrats will have their slim 51-50 majority in full attendance.
