Florida bans social media for minors under 13

Florida is cracking down on social media access for minors. Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill yesterday, limiting social media access for kids under the age of 16.

As reported by Axios – the law bars kids younger than 13 from using certain social media platforms and requires parental consent for 14- and 15-year-olds. It also bans minors from “pornographic or sexually explicit” websites, which will now require age verification to access.

The law is likely to be challenged in court, as judges have blocked similar laws in Montana, Arkansas and other states. Currently, the law is set to take effect at the beginning of next year.
