Florida settles lawsuit over Parental Right law

Florida continues to be at the forefront of the culture war.

Yesterday, state education officials reached a settlement with civil rights lawyers who challenged the state’s Parental Rights law – which bars classroom instructions on sexuality and gender identity.

Under the settlement, those topics can be discussed in class so long as it’s not part of the formal curriculum. Both sides celebrated the outcome. Gov. Ron DeSantis called the deal a “major win.” He said, “Today’s mutually agreed settlement ensures that the law will remain in effect, and it is expected that the case will be dismissed by the Court imminently.”
