Linda Sun, the former deputy chief of staff to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, was arrested by the FBI yesterday and charged with acting as a Chinese spy.

She was arrested alongside her husband Chris Hu. The two were charged with acting as “an undisclosed agent of the Government of the PRC and the CCP.” This included Sun shaping policies in favor of the CCP’s agenda, especially when it came to Taiwan.

The indictment accused her of “blocking representatives of the Taiwanese government from having access to the NYS governor’s office;” and acting in the interest of the PRC and the CCP. In addition, her husband was accused of engaging in business practices tied to the CCP.

According to NBC New York, the couple pleaded not guilty in a federal court yesterday afternoon. They are expected to appear in court on Sept. 25.
