Former New York Congressman George Santos pleaded guilty to fraud charges yesterday in federal court. The former Republican representative was indicted on 23 counts, including fraud and the misuse of campaign funds.
Santos has been accused of stealing other people’s identities and making unauthorized charges to his donors’ credit cards. Santos is facing a minimum two-year sentence after pleading guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, but he could serve up to eight. He is due to be sentenced in February.
