‘Full blown epidemic’: Record number of NYPD officers injured

The New York Post reports that a record number of cops were hurt on the job this past year. In the last quarter of 2023 alone, 1,286 police officers were injured in conflicts with suspects, which brings the yearly total to over 5,300 injuries.

Most of these injuries happened in the Bronx and Cypress Hills. But experts say that the combination of radical protests, an influx of criminal migrants, and soft-on-crime policies are creating the perfect storm for the NYPD.

Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry says the assault on officers is a “full-blown epidemic,” prompting many to leave their jobs in New York City.

One former NYPD officer said he moved to Orlando after he was badly injured during the George Floyd protests. The father of two says that Orlando is a much better place to be a cop, given the stricter laws and better quality of life.
