The stage is set for the 2022 football National Championship game, after the #3 ranked Georgia Bulldogs and #1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide each advanced to the championship game following their respective New Year’s Eve victories in the College Football Playoff semifinal round.

Georgia crushed the #2 ranked Michigan Wolverines 34-11, while Alabama defeated the #4 ranked Cincinnati Bearcats 27-6. The 2022 National Championship Game will be a rematch of the 2018 title game, in which quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver DeVonta Smith led the Crimson Tide to a stunning 26-23 victory over the Bulldogs, in a game where Alabama overcame a 13-point deficit to win.

Georgia looks to exact revenge on Alabama for that heartbreaking loss as well as the SEC Championship game defeat from several weeks ago, while also capturing the school’s first title in over 40 years. They face a difficult path, however, as Alabama has made it a habit of winning national title games under their brilliant head coach, Nick Saban. The Crimson Tide looks to defend its national title from last year and add to the program’s dominating resume. Since 2009, Alabama has won 6 National Championships and produced several high-profile NFL stars along the way, including running back Mark Ingram and wide receiver Julio Jones.

The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide square off on Monday, January 10 at 8:00 EST in Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
