Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch warned against what he sees as a growing trend of federal agency overreach.
In his new book, “Overruled: The Human Toll of Too Much Law”, Gorsuch criticized federal agencies for acting as “prosecutor and judge.” He pointed to data showing a rise in cases being barred from public jury trials.
Both the book and the statements come as the Supreme Court has ruled against federal agencies in recent cases. This includes ending the long-standing Chevron doctrine that allowed agencies to interpret laws.
Gorsuch also highlighted in his book how the Social Security Administration denies 60% of disability applications, however only 1% of claims were decided by a federal court.
Gorsuch will be entering his seventh year as a Supreme Court Justice since being nominated by President Donald Trump in 2017.
