In Haiti, Ariel Henry has officially resigned as prime minister, allowing a new government to form in the gang-ravaged country.

Henry signed his resignation letter in Los Angeles on Wednesday, having served since 2021 following the assassination of then-President Jovenal Moise. Henry’s finance minister, Michel Patrick Boisvert, will serve as interim prime minister until the transition council appoints an official replacement.

Henry announced last month he would resign once the council was in place. The transitional government’s mandate runs until February 2026. Currently, no date has been set for the naming of a new prime minister or council president.
