It was an embarrassing night for Nikki Haley. The former South Carolina governor lost the Nevada Republican primary despite being the only major candidate on the ballot.
Over 60% of voters chose the “None of These Candidates” option, compared to roughly 30% who chose Haley. Trump skipped the primary so he could participate in tomorrow’s caucus. In the end, the results don’t really matter.
A primary is required by Nevada law, but the results aren’t recognized by the State GOP. Delegates won’t be awarded until the caucus, where Trump is expected to win easily. Haley won’t even be on the caucus ballot after she refused to pay the fee required to participate.
President Joe Biden overwhelmingly won the state’s Democratic primary as was expected.
