Hamas leader reportedly using hostages as human shields

Disturbing news is coming out of Gaza, where reports suggest Hamas’ leader is using hostages as human shields.

According to the New York Times, the mastermind behind the October 7 terror attack on Israel – a man by the name of Yahya Sinwar – is surrounding himself and his family with more than a dozen hostages. US officials say the hostages are meant to prevent Israel from trying to assassinate Sinwar, whom Israel blames for preventing a hostage deal.

This latest revelation about his use of human shields could be a major reason why Hamas keeps stalling in negotiations. Hamas is still holding more than 130 hostages, though it’s unclear how many are still alive.

Israel says about a quarter of them could be dead.
