Hamas leader’s messages reveal support for continued war despite civilian casualties

Newly leaked messages from Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar reportedly show the leader’s indifference toward civilian casualties.

The Wall Street Journal obtained messages that show Sinwar calling the deaths of Palestinian civilians “necessary sacrifices” in the terror group’s effort to bolster global sympathy for the Palestinian cause. Sinwar told fellow Hamas officials “We have the Israelis right where we want them,” and that “we have to move forward on the same path we started.”

Following an Israeli airstrike in April that indirectly killed numerous children, Sinwar also said that civilian deaths would “infuse life into the veins of this nation, prompting it to rise to its glory and honor.”

He previously expressed support for civilian deaths in 2018 when he told reporters, “No blood, no news.” Sinwar has been a fugitive since the October 7th attack on Israel that he allegedly orchestrated.
