Vice President Kamala Harris sat down for her second interview since she assumed the Democratic candidacy for president – and the first interview she has done solo. The consensus from this rare appearance is…that nothing has changed.
Sitting down with 6abc Action News in Philadelphia, Harris was questioned on some of the statements she made during the recent debate with former President Donald Trump. But any opportunity to clarify her policies was squandered as Harris repeated the same information she gave at the debate.
Another point of criticism levied against Harris is her inability to distinguish herself from President Joe Biden. When asked if she could name “one or two” policies that were different, Harris went into her economic plan again.
Harris is pushing for a child tax credit plan to serve as an addition to something the Biden administration already implemented back in 2021. Harris proposes to almost double the credit at its current rate.
Finally, Harris was also critiqued for her take on gun control. According to conservative communicator Steve Guest, Harris “doesn’t want to take anyone’s guns, she just wants to ban them.”
Former President Trump called her out on this particular point, noting that she said something a little different during the debate.
Still, this interview is notable because of how much Harris has been previously criticized for her lack of media involvement during the campaign. Her tune seems to have slightly changed altogether as Harris is set to sit down with the National Association of Black Journalists for another interview tomorrow.
