Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris surpassed the delegate vote threshold to become the official Democratic presidential nominee. During a virtual event with supporters, Harris called the moment “historic” and said it was an honor to be chosen.
She will hit the campaign trail this week with her soon-to-be-named running mate. Harris’ self-imposed deadline for picking her vice president is tomorrow, and the Harris team is reportedly vetting about six candidates.
The likeliest, or at least most favored candidate, appears to be Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro. That speculation is fueled by his abrupt cancelation of weekend fundraising plans as well as the fact that Harris’ upcoming battleground-state tour begins in Philadelphia.
