Harris talks policy reversals, Biden in first interview

After nearly 40 days atop the Democrats’ ticket, Vice President Kamala Harris finally sat down for her first interview last night. Alongside her running mate Tim Walz, Harris spoke in a pre-recorded interview with CNN’s Dana Bash.

Perhaps the most notable moment was when Harris was asked about her repeated flip-flops on various policy positions – such as walking back calls for a fracking ban, Medicare for all and mandatory gun buybacks.

Donald Trump was quick to jump on those comments – “my values have not changed.” His campaign posted a statement: “Kamala Harris confirms she’s still her radical left self.”

Another important moment came later in the interview when Harris was asked if she has any regrets about defending President Joe Biden’s mental fitness now that he’s stepped out of the race.

Harris said Biden has “the intelligence, the commitment, and the judgment and disposition” that “the American people rightly deserve in their president.”
