Alejandro Mayorkas is in the hot seat.
Yesterday, House Republicans released two articles of impeachment against the Homeland Security Secretary, one alleging a “refusal to comply with Federal immigration law” and a second accusing him of lying to Congress.
The House GOP says Mayorkas’ “refusal to obey the law” is an offense to the U.S. Constitution and a national security risk. But there is some disagreement. Conservative legal scholar Johnathan Turley says he doesn’t think there’s enough of a basis to impeach.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) says the House will vote on the articles “as soon as possible.”
