Iran, Israel exchange threats following embassy bombing

Iran and Israel exchanged threats yesterday as tensions continued to build following the April 1 embassy airstrike.

That bomb hit a building next to Iran’s embassy in Syria. It killed 12 people, several of whom were Iranian commanders. Since then, Tehran has vowed revenge. Yesterday, the supreme leader called Israel an “evil regime” and promised “it would be punished.”

Israel’s foreign minister hit back later that day with a threat of his own. He wrote on X: “If Iran attacks from its own territory, Israel will respond and attack in Iran.”

On Sunday, former Israeli ambassador Danny Danon warned there would be a “heavy price” for any retaliation. Israel has not claimed responsibility for the embassy bomb.
