Iranian Supreme Leader tries to dial back tensions with Israel

Iran is seemingly trying to de-escalate the conflict with Israel.

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, acknowledged that Tehran’s attack on Israel last week hardly accomplished anything. Khamenei told military officials that the country’s attack on Israel didn’t matter that much, despite Israel’s reaction. Iran has also downplayed Israel’s retaliation that targeted military installations.

Khamenei also claimed that the country’s overall image has become respectable in the world’s eyes, a claim unsupported both by the public and by Israel’s allies.
