Israel-Hamas: IDF withdraws from central Gaza

by ian

The Israeli military withdrew most ground troops from central Gaza this weekend in what the IDF called “an evolution of the war.”

That drawdown includes almost all troops from the Khan Younis region. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said yesterday that Israel is a “step away from victory.” But he stressed that there will be no ceasefire until more than a hundred hostages taken on Oct. 7 are returned.

On the same day, a military spokesman stated there were more military operations to be conducted while specifically naming Rafah.

That’s renewed concerns that Israel may proceed with a ground invasion in the southern city where over a million Palestinians are currently sheltering. But White House spokesman John Kirby says the troop pull-out is just a normal rotation.

Palestinians are reportedly free to move from south Gaza into the central portion of the Strip.
