Israel-Hamas War: Hostage release negotiations progressing

by ian

Those involved in the hostage negotiations are expressing rare optimism that a deal may close soon. Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer confirmed this on “Meet the Press” last night.

CNN reports that a recent draft of a Qatari-mediated deal shows that Hamas will release 50 of its 240 hostages in exchange for a four- to five-day pause in fighting. But nothing is finalized yet.

Hamas reportedly has put the negotiations on hold while discussions surrounding aid shipments are still being finalized. One source told Axios that “sometimes there are changes every hour.”

Finer cautiously expressed that “these things can fall apart.”
