Israeli fighter jets bombed four Hamas weapons sites on Sunday in response to violent protests that erupted along the Gaza border. The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) confirmed on Twitter that four Hamas sites were struck that housed weapons and other storage for the terrorist organization.

On Saturday afternoon, more than 41 Palestinians and an Israeli soldier were injured as a result of the riots that spanned 3 hours. The IDF described the situation on Twitter saying they “responded with riot dispersal means.”

This afternoon, hundreds of Palestinian rioters gathered along the security fence in northern Gaza. The rioters approached the security fence, attempted to climb the fence, and hurled explosive devices at IDF troops. We responded with riot dispersal means. An Israeli Border Police soldier was critically injured by live fire from Gaza and is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital. As of right now, all the rioters have been dispersed.

The Israeli officer is in critical condition after he was shot at point blank range through a concrete border wall. Two Palestinians are also reportedly in critical condition including a 13 year old boy. During an Israeli Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett wished for a speedy recovery for the officer and gave a warning to those who wished Israeli citizens any harm.

The violent riots were organized by Hamas factions to show their displeasure with the speed and content of the ceasefire negotiations from Israel and Hamas following the bloody 11-day conflict in May.
