As the fighting rages on, Israeli soldiers and citizens alike are taking the time to celebrate Hanukkah, which began yesterday after sundown.

In the town of Sderot,  which was hit during the Oct. 7 terror attack, IDF soldiers gathered around a massive Menorah to honor the beginning of Hanukkah. The town’s deputy mayor says he hopes the celebration will help “bring light to the world.”

Elsewhere, the night took a more somber tone with some honoring the over 130 hostages still held by Hamas. U.S. Ambassador to Israel Jacob Lew lit the first candle of the menorah.
