Israel’s Gantz offers war ultimatum to PM Netanyahu

Internal conflict is brewing in Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s war cabinet.

Benny Gantz, Netanyahu’s chief political rival, told the prime minister Saturday that if they cannot agree on a post-war strategy, his party will leave the government by June 8. The criticism came after Defense Minister Yoav Gallant expressed similar remarks over Netanyahu’s unwillingness to draft a post-war strategy.

This all comes as the US and Gantz are trying to push for a renewed Palestinian authority over Gaza, which would include help from Saudi Arabia and other Arab states. Netanyahu’s office says that Gantz’s plan for Gaza would be a defeat for Israel and the abandonment of most hostages.
