Japan’s PM urges US not to abandon role on world stage

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida spoke before Congress yesterday where he warned lawmakers against abandoning America’s lead role on the world stage.

His speech comes as some Republicans are opposed to sending additional foreign aid to Ukraine, arguing the US should focus on domestic problems like the border crisis.

Kishida says American support for Ukraine is key to deterring China from becoming too aggressive toward Taiwan. He added that the Ukraine of today might be the East Asia of tomorrow.
