In some heartbreaking news from the Christian music community, bass player and vocalist Jason Weaver of the Christian rock band “Big Daddy Weave” passed away on Jan. 2. He was 42 years old.

Reports say that Weaver’s cause of death was related to COVID-19, which he had been battling for the last days of his life. He had also battled various health issues throughout his life.

The band’s lead singer and Jason’s older brother Mike Weaver shared a solemn and heartfelt message of remembrance soon after his brother’s death. He said,

Hey everybody. Thank you so much for all your prayers for my brother. You have walked with him through a huge fight, and I’m so sorry to bring this news but I’m also excited to celebrate where he is right now. My brother Jay went to be with Jesus just a couple hours ago due to complications due to COVID-19 on top of everything else he had going on. Even though COVID may have taken his last breath, Jesus was right there to catch him. He’s seeing things now that I long to see. My heart’s broke for my family … but we all just really wanted to thank you for walking with us through so much for so long.

Weaver’s impact was vast, and he will be missed by the many people he impacted, both personally and through his music. He is survived by his wife, Emily, and three children.
