Judge orders Border Patrol to speed up processing for kids

A judge ordered Border Patrol officials this week to speed up the processing and relocation of migrant children.

The ruling comes in response to a complaint made by migrant advocates who documented the squalid conditions of the makeshift border campers where many children are staying before being processed. The order also requires Customs and Border Protection to keep records on minors held in custody for more than three days.

The agency said it’s reviewing the order and “will continue to transport vulnerable individuals and children encountered on the border to its facilities as quickly as possible.”
