Jury selection begins for Trump hush-money trial

Jury selection began today in a New York criminal trial against former President Donald Trump.

The charges stem from District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s probe of hush-money payments allegedly made to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election. Trump denies wrongdoing and the affair. He claims it’s a political hit job meant to keep him from campaigning.

The Republican presidential nominee says he will continue to fight the charges, which he characterized in a Truth Social statement as “fighting for the Country.” The trial is expected to last from six to eight weeks. During that time, the former president is limited to virtual appearances and weekend-only campaign stops.
