Justin Bullock, FISM News
Republican House Representatives Brian Mast (Florida), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (Iowa), and Beth Van Duyne (Texas), were each fined $500 on Tuesday for appearing on the House floor without masks. This was done in defiance of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s mask mandate, which has not been redacted despite updated CDC recommendations. The three representatives joined seven other Republicans in defying the indiscriminate rule.
Representative Miller-Meeks is a physician and also vaccinated according to the response from the Iowa GOP. She has not yet made a statement about the incident herself, but her two colleagues have taken to Twitter.
I have been fined $500 by @SpeakerPelosi for following CDC guidance.
This was never about science. It has always been about power.

Each representative could face up to $2,500 in fines if they continue to flout House rules. The seven other representatives who refused to wear masks received a warning as it was only their first time to disregard the mandate.
