Kenyan delegation assessing barracks, equipment in Haiti

Kenyan officials are reportedly in Haiti, a sign that the Kenyan-led security force might soon land on the island.

CNN says the delegation is assessing barracks and equipment for the foreign police forces. Their analysis will be instrumental in determining when the first multinational force will deploy. Officials from the United States and the United Nations are also in Haiti this week.

The force has been long delayed as violent gangs sink the Caribbean nation further into anarchy. But the temporary presidential council confirmed yesterday that the mission will continue. The Haitian National Police will control all aspects of the field mission according to the council members.

This comes as the national police recently took back control of the airport. Commercial flights resumed yesterday.
