Leaked Border Patrol documents reveal that at least 160,000 illegal immigrants have been released into the U.S. since March by the Biden administration with little to no supervision, according to a Fox News affiliate report.

30,000 of that number have been granted work permit eligibility.  Documents further show that 94,570 immigrants have been released into the country with Notices to Report, instructing them to present themselves to ICE authorities only after they reach their final destination. Those who choose to check in with ICE are not subject to detainment or deportation as they await immigration proceedings.

Fox correspondent Bill Melugin tweeted an image of a portion of the leaked documents yesterday:

These documents reveal the shocking number of migrants that have been allowed into the U.S. under the Biden administration and expose Biden’s exploitation of federal parole authority.

Historically, federal policy provides that parole be granted only in specific cases where “urgent humanitarian purposes” or some significant benefit to the public can be established. According to the report, parole has been granted to “tens of thousands” of Afghan refugees who were brought to the U.S. under Operation Allies Welcome.

Biden’s former Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott told Fox News the documents indicate an abuse of parole authority by the administration which, he says, calls the entire review and approval process into question”

By law and regulation a parole shall only be granted on a case by case basis and only for significant humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit. Neither of these appear to apply to the current situation. … As a field chief, I don’t believe I ever approved more than 5 or 10 paroles in a year. When I did, I ensured that the alien was monitored continuously and was detained or removed as soon as the circumstances allowed.

According to the report, 40,000 additional illegal immigrants have been released into the U.S. “on their own recognizance.” In a single day last month, 128 adults who illegally breached the Texas border at Del Rio were released into the country without any sort of monitor or tracking device.

Law enforcement reported over 200,000 reported migrant encounters in the months of July and August alone representing some of the highest numbers seen in the past two decades.

These numbers are in sharp contrast to last month’s claim by DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas that the border is closed during his testimony before the  Senate Homeland Security Committee.

Republicans have blamed the unprecedented border chaos on the Biden administration’s deliberate and aggressive reversals of Trump-led border protection policies along with their continued refusal to take basic steps to mitigate the crisis.

Meanwhile, an estimated 85,000 Haitian Migrants are expected to arrive at the U.S. border later this month.

Mayorkas instructed DHS officials Tuesday to halt workplace sting operations and instead focus on illegal immigrant workers’ complaints against their employers. Last month, he issued Immigration Enforcement guidelines stating that being in the country illegally does not warrant an arrest.

The Biden administration continues to insist that the massive numbers of illegal crossings into the U.S. are based upon “root causes” like poverty and violence in Central America, as opposed to unenforced border protection policies.
