Maine shooter still at large in historic manhunt

The massive manhunt continues for Robert Card, the man suspected of carrying out a mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, two days ago.

Eighteen people are confirmed dead, revised down from 22, in what remains the deadliest mass shooting this year. Up to 350 officers are involved in the search along with dozens of FBI agents, making for what is likely the biggest manhunt in the state’s history.

Thursday, police searched a property belonging to one of Card’s relatives. A note was discovered at the scene, but few details about it are known at this time.

The suspect’s car has since been discovered at a boat launch site. Investigators think Card might have escaped on a jet ski registered under his name earlier this year. Police are now investigating the riverbank and dive teams are searching the water.
