The first major winter storm of the season blanketed much of the country over the weekend.
The storm brought heavy snow and strong winds to northeastern states and the central Appalachians. Some areas of New England saw around 14 inches of snow, with thousands losing power Sunday afternoon. Over on the West Coast, I-80 was closed for several hours due to numerous spinouts and collisions in the winter weather.
But that’s not the last of it. A second system is expected to slam the Midwest by mid-week, bringing possible tornadoes, blizzard conditions, and flooding to the region.
From there, the storm is expected to move to the Pacific Northwest, possibly bringing as much as a foot of snow as well as wind gusts of more than 40 miles per hour.
