McConnell: Democrat senators may have been ‘unethical’ in Alito demands

by ian

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is accusing Democrats of acting unethically by making recusal demands of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito. Those calls came from Senate Judiciary Chairman Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), along with Senators Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island.

They asked Chief Justice John Roberts to demand Alitos’ recusal for flying flags at his homes they say shows bias in cases related to the 2020 election. They also wanted Justice Clarence Thomas’s recusal, but Roberts denied those requests.

McConnell says the court “should take any remedial action it feels to be appropriate” to address their behavior.
