Outraged parents recently took California’s North San Diego County school district to task for promoting a “family-friendly” Halloween drag show on its community page that is being sponsored by a gender reassignment surgery center and a 21+ gay bar.

A video of one mother’s powerful speech at the Encinitas Unified School District board meeting has gone viral.

Brittany Mayer, a member of the Christian-based parental rights group Rooted Wings, accused board members of “pimping out” children in the district to organizations bent on destroying their innocence and profiting from gender dysphoria.

“What is it about a grown man costumed in a sparkly bra with augmented boobs busting out, a leather miniskirt barely covering his twerking ass with tuck tape on his front while spreading his fish-netted legs as he writhes on the ground, grinding his groin next to a minor, ‘family-friendly?’” Mayer demanded in the video.

“You all got caught with your sparkly panties down,” Mayer continued, as she proceeded to call on each board member to apologize. “And while we have a culture that has a massive problem with child porn, with sex trafficking — you, a little school district, board of adults, made the decision to feature an event to hyper-sexualize young children.”

“We’re done mincing words,” Mayer wrote in a tweet that includes a video of her speech.

“Boo Fest” is billed as a “Queerfest free Halloween party for youth & families” in an online flyer for the event, which features a “family-friendly” drag show, games, candy, costume contest, and drag performances.

Though only Mayer and a group of parents seated behind her can be seen in the video, the audio picked up the voices of board members attempting to interrupt her speech.

Undeterred, Mayer continued.

“You all played the activist pimp for an Align surgical center and for a 21-plus gay bar. It makes you groomers and activist pimps, and we won’t have those sitting on a school board who oversees the education of our children,” she said

“There are boundaries,” Mayer added. “And you don’t slap ‘family friendly’ titles on stuff to cover your a – -.”

A screenshot of the “Boo Bash” Halloween event shared by Mayer shows Align Surgical Associates Inc. listed as a paid sponsor. A current online ad from TransFamily Support Services, which is hosting the event, also lists the North County LGBTQ Center and San Diego Pride as paid sponsors.

The school district has since attempted to distance itself from the event, telling NBC7 that the show was pulled three weeks ago from its digital hub, PeachJar, citing a failure to meet approved criteria. The statement did not elaborate any further.

The director of the TransFamily Support Services, however, told the news outlet that the event could not have been posted on PeachJar without the district’s express permission.

Elected San Diego Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer criticized protesting parents, saying on Twitter that they “should be ashamed of themselves for pushing hate and intolerance on all of us.”

“This kind of bigotry has no place in our community,” she wrote in all caps, adding, “Trans kids: I see you, I love you, you ARE welcome here.” She subsequently posted that she would be taking her three-year-old child to the Boo Fest.

Parent and school board candidate Justin Ried said, “We certainly want to be an inclusive community and support groups of all kinds, but the question is where do we draw the line?”
