In the last several years, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has enraged Christians with a profession of fidelity to the Roman Catholic faith, while simultaneously propagating a ferociously pro-abortion agenda. At a recent panel discussion at the University of California San Fransisco, Pelosi shockingly labeled pro-life defenders as “sinful” for their stance against abortion.
The panel was part of the events at the university’s “Women’s Equality Day.” Pelosi alleged that opposing abortion is an “assault” on women of color and on low-income women.
The fact that this is such an assault on women of color and women – lower income families — is just sinful. It’s sinful. It’s wrong that they would be able to say to women what they think women should be doing with their lives and their bodies. But it’s sinful, the injustice of it all … Unimaginable pain is being inflicted on women around the country. American women today are not as free as their mothers … It’s an injustice that we will not tolerate and cannot stand.
While Pelosi’s comments will no doubt tickle the ears of radical abortionists who seek to codify the procedure with no restrictions, she ignored the simple fact that abortion itself is an assault on women of color and low-income women with the majority of abortions in the U.S. taking the lives of unborn babies of color.
Pelosi’s fanatical agenda has caught the attention of her Archbishop, Salvator Cordelione, who has publicly renounced her and says he will refuse to serve her the elements of the Lord’s Supper in his parish until she repents of her sin.
Pelosi skirted by this refusal on her recent visit to Rome, where she received the elements under the stamp of approval from Pope Francis I, to the ire of conservative Catholics.
Author’s Biblical Analysis:
Christians are right to be enraged with Pelosi, who has publicly and repeatedly blasphemed the name of the Lord Jesus Christ as she claims fidelity to Christ and yet promotes the legal murder of babies. To act in blatant hypocrisy is one thing — to target the pro-life camp as “sinners” because of their desire to help mothers and save children from murder is nothing short of satanic.
There is a grave lesson for Christians to learn from this harrowing report — Your conduct must line up with your beliefs.
Jesus pronounced “woes” on the Pharisees because of their hypocrisy. They were outright liars, believing and proclaiming one thing while living contrary to what they preached. Like Pelosi, they hypocritically pointed out the actions of others while completely ignoring their own sins. Like Pelosi, they looked upon the righteous, those who in repentance trusted in Christ alone for salvation, and labeled them as “sinners.”
It is wise to set the record straight. True Christians simply do not support the murder of babies. If a person, such as Pelosi, loves and supports that which God utterly detests, how can that person possess the Spirit of God?
This is in no way to shame Nancy Pelosi, nor is it meant to make a rash judgment on her eternal salvation. This is simply to call the truth what it is. Jesus clearly told His followers that they are proven to be His followers based on two pieces of visible evidence — their fruit and their love for one another and for God. Based on this report, on her recent conduct, and on her policies, Pelosi possesses none of those things. If there is no fruit, there is no faith.
Christian, do not be a tree that bears no fruit. The way you love others, especially those that belong to the body of Christ and the “least of these” (a category that Speaker Pelosi routinely ignores as she propagates pre-birth infanticide), is proof of the salvation that is in you. To be clear, your conduct is not what saves you. Only the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross at Calvary, can cleanse a sinner from all the stains of sin.
But sanctified conduct should be indicative of a believer, insofar as it is the outward proof of the inward transformation. The question all Christians need to keep on the forefront of their minds is this: “Does my conduct give proof to the transformation that has taken place in my heart?”
May believers everywhere consider this vital aspect of the Christian life soberly, trusting with confidence in the once-for-all sacrifice of Jesus Christ for salvation and living for Him as a result of our miraculous regeneration.
A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. (Matthew 7:18-20)
