NCAA – Detroit Mercy’s Davis falls 4 points short of men’s scoring record

A college basketball player fell just short of breaking one of the most notable NCAA records yesterday.

Detroit Mercy player Antoine Davis came four points shy of Pete Maravich’s men’s NCAA scoring record after scoring 22 points in a loss to Youngstown State. Davis needed 26 points to break the record.

The five-year star had a chance to tie the game and the record with a three-pointer at the buzzer, but missed as time expired. Davis finished his career with 3,664 points.

Maravich set the record, playing in 61 less games than Davis.

After the game Davis said he was thankful he was even close to the record, saying “God knows what he’s doing.”
