A new poll has some disturbing things to say about the current state of American politics, showing nearly a third of Democrats wanted Donald Trump to have been killed in Sunday’s assassination attempt.
That shocking statistic comes from a new survey conducted by Scott Rasmussen’s RMG Research. The organization asked 1,000 registered voters “would America be better off if Donald Trump had been killed last weekend?”
Overall, 69% of respondents said no and 14% were unsure. But shockingly, 17% said yes, including 28% of Democrats and 7% of Republicans. Twenty-five percent of Democrats were unsure if Trump’s death would be good for the country.
Rasmussen reacted to the poll saying, “I continue to believe that America’s best days are still to come. However, for years I’ve been saying that things will get worse before they get better. These numbers suggest that the phase of getting worse is clearly upon us.”
