Nearly two dozen killed in Memorial Day weekend storms

Severe thunderstorms and tornadoes caused massive damage this Memorial Day Weekend.

At least 21 people were killed across Arkansas, Kentucky, Texas and Oklahoma. Hundreds of buildings were destroyed over the three-day weekend and hundreds of thousands were left without power. President Joe Biden has since activated FEMA to assess the damage and provide support.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency early yesterday morning, with storms impacting almost the entire state.

Later in the day, a severe thunderstorm watch was issued for parts of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania as the storms were expected to move east. The terrible news of the weekend came just days after a powerful tornado killed four people in Iowa.
