Netanyahu dissolves war cabinet, opting for smaller advisery forums

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially dissolved his war cabinet, following the exit of former military chief Benny Gantz.

The move was expected. Netanyahu said he will now hold smaller advisory forums to discuss Israel’s conflict in Gaza. But he will mostly deal with hard-right members of his government who do not want a ceasefire.

Throughout the war, Netanyahu has tried to balance demands from his country and the US. Some critics have accused him of acting in his political interests. Netanyahu has denied such allegations, but this doesn’t change the fact that Gantz’s departure from the war cabinet comes at a rather sensitive time in Israeli politics.
