Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces backlash for not launching a bigger offensive against Hezbollah’s attack on Sunday.
According to the Guardian, most of that criticism comes from his now fragmented conservative coalition, though centrists in the displaced north were also unhappy with the prime minister’s moderate attack.
Representatives from northern Israel have vowed to boycott meetings with other government officials over what they see as Netanyahu prioritizing central Israel’s defense but not the north.
Conservative hardliner and national security advisor Ben Gvir said, “We must bring a decisive war against Hezbollah that will remove the threat in the north and allow the residents to return home safely.”
However, as of yesterday morning, Israeli strikes continued in Lebanon. State media and eyewitnesses say that the border village of Tair Harfa and the coastal city of Sidon have been the targets.
