Netanyahu takes responsibility for strike on aid workers, Biden ‘outraged’ by incident

Fallout continues from an Israeli strike that killed seven aid workers in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement calling their deaths an accident.

The deceased workers belonged to an aid group known as “World Central Kitchen”, which has been providing food to the Gaza Strip during the war. Israeli military officials say their forces mistakenly identified one of the aid group’s vehicles as an enemy target.

It’s still unclear how the mistake occurred. In the US, President Joe Biden said he was “outraged” by the incident, while the White House called on Israel to do more to protect aid workers.

To date, nearly 200 aid workers have been killed in the conflict.
