New shipment of Gaza aid transferred through Cyprus pier

In the Middle East, more humanitarian aid is making its way to Gaza with the help of a US-built floating pier.

The foreign minister of Cyprus says an aid shipment left the country’s port today. According to the UN, residents of Gaza are on the brink of famine, so support is much needed for the remaining residents. Because of that, the US aid ship is carrying as much support as possible.

This comes a couple of months after President Joe Biden ordered the construction of the floating pier which now serves as the launching pad for aid shipments.

But humanitarian workers say that aid deliveries on water will not be enough. They say the most effective way to deliver aid is by land. However, Hamas has confounded such efforts having reportedly stolen supplies from aid trucks.
