In the latest legal snag for Donald Trump, a New York Supreme Court justice is denying the former president’s motion to dismiss New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit.
The judge found Trump and members of the Trump organization liable for “persistent fraud,” saying they overvalued assets for years to get better deals from banks. To make matters even worse for Trump, the judge is also now revoking his New York business licenses.
The ruling marks a major win for James, who brought charges against Trump last year. Tuesday’s ruling should make it easier for James to establish damages at next week’s trial.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump decried the case as “Democrat Political Lawfare.” This comes as Trump faces multiple legal challenges, including two federal and two state-level indictments. Trump says all of them are meant to harm him in the 2024 presidential election.
